We have our two contenders: Nyx & Pete.
The game for elimination and 31 garnets will be up soon.
I'll now introduce the 10th Death Match.
The 10th Death Match is "Memory Maze".
In this game, you will memorize hidden walls and the player that reaches the end first will win the Death Match.
Imagine a square boards with 7 columns and 7 rows. There are 32 invisible walls on this square board.
You will each start at one side of Row A and attempt to finish at the opposite side of Row G. The shortest distance to each side is the same.
When the game begins, the starting player will move first.
Both player will take turns moving 3 squares each and will post on this thread the exact order you are moving. E.g A1, B1, B2.
You may move in any horizontal or vertical direction but you may not move diagonally.
If a player moves through a hidden wall, their move will fail and you will be told after moving through which square did the move failed.
Players who have a failed move will automatically go back to the starting point and start again on their next turn.
Each player will get one Double Chance turn that will allow a player to move 6 turns instead of their usual 3 turns.
The first player to reach their destination will win the Death Match.

So this is how the board will look like.
G1 G2 G3 G4 G5 G6 G7
F1 F2 F3 F4 F5 F6 F7
E1 E2 E3 E4 E5 E6 E7
D1 D2 D3 D4 D5 D6 D7
C1 C2 C3 C4 C5 C6 C7
B1 B2 B3 B4 B5 B6 B7
A1 A2 A3 A4 A5 A6 A7
I need Pete and Nyx to agree on a common time till Tuesday. If no common time, it will be played out non-live with a 12-hour deadline.

Since Nyx seems to be super busy and has no common time even though Pete hasn't said what time he is free, I will start the challenge on Sun, 8 PM EST.

I'll tell you what, you run and write my Inhibitory Control study for me, and I'll be free as a bird for any game you like!

Nyx, since you have more garnets, please decide who should go first.

Maybe a reasonable resolve would be to schedule 1 hour (hard deadline), and after that time either the person ahead is declared the winner OR then it goes to non-live, thus at least getting a good head start and being able to wrap it up within a week. Or, just drag it on for a month, making everyone focus - to some degree - on this for the next month of their lives, in the hope your opponent will be too busy a day here and there and miss some turns. Because that's the strategy here, right? I mean, if there's a scheduled time and you know your opponent will be available in that window, you really have no advantage. But if you know they're likely to miss a few turns (which, to your credit, despite being so busy, you never do), you have an advantage. Do make sure to complain about it taking too long 2 weeks in, though.
The idea of finding a common time for Death Matches was presented before the game even started, and part of the time commitment of choosing to play. Just sayin'.

Anyway, good luck to both of you. Both have proven to be great players, and I'm interested to see how this turns out.

the difference between being able to spend 5-10 minutes to think and make a move, while periodically checking the site throughout the day and the difference between finding a time when I'm not sleeping or working to spend a few hours to play this game is rather large.
There's no strategy to this, just a preference of access 12 or 24 hours, I can check in. Otherwise I struggle to find any real time to sit down and access the game for that extended period of time.

Like in the game, will we know at which point our move has failed ? For example, if I am on D1 , and I move E1 E2 E3 , if there is an invisible wall between D1 and E1 , will I be told that this is the point where I failed, or simply that I have to go back to the start?
I take it one player will start at A1 while the other starts at A7?

Each player have the same number of least possible moves needed to reach their point. So like the moves you mentioned, I will specifically say there is a wall between D1 and E1. Even if there are other walls, eg. E1 and E2, i wouldn't mention them. I will only mention the first wall you hit.
